Thomas McCartney, DO

Dr. Thomas McCartney earned his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Medicine. He then returned to central Ohio for his residency training in neurosurgery. Dr. McCartney was awarded the Howard A. Grancy Surgery Foundation award in Excellence in Surgery. Dr. McCartney was also the Gold Humanism Honor Society Inductee for Excellence in Clinical care, Leadership, Compassion, and Service.

Dr. McCartney has also received multiple aesthetic trainings throughout his years in aesthetic medicine, including The Esthetic Skin Institute, Candela Center of Excellence, Allergan, Galderma, and Merz. He truly enjoys expanding upon the knowledge he has gained from his surgical background to be able to deliver precise, quick and incredible results to all of his patients.

In his spare time, Dr. McCartney and his husband Kyle are active in the community, including work and volunteering with non-profits in the Columbus area. Dr. McCartney and Kyle enjoy traveling to many locations around the world, enjoying local cuisine, and spending quality time with their young daughter, Regan.

Matia Mulumba, MD

Dr. Matia Mulumba earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, and completed his residency at the Ohio State University in 2005.

Dr. Mulumba is Board Certified in Aesthetic Medicine through the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, as well as Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Favorite Thing to Perform: “Functional Medicine because it focuses on the entire body, making the inside as beautiful as the outside.”

Favorite Thing to Receive: “Chemical Peels! They do everything you need if you’re patient with the process!”

In his spare time, Dr. Mulumba enjoys spending time with his wife, Mary and their 3 children.

Alicia Alvarado, CNP

Alicia Alvarado, CNP is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a highly skilled aesthetic medicine provider with over a decade of experience. For the past ten years, she has immersed herself in the field of aesthetics and considers herself an artist of the industry.

Alicia began her nursing career as an ICU nurse at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Columbus, Ohio. Alicia has always been passionate about continuing education, and previously served as an assistant professor following the completion of her Master’s Degree in 2017. In addition to being one of the best aesthetic injectors in Gahanna, Alicia enjoys sharing her knowledge and expertise with other aesthetic providers as a clinical instructor.

Alongside Dr. McCartney and Dr. Mulumba at Beyond Skin Aesthetics, Alicia has helped to create a truly all-inclusive, advanced aesthetic medicine practice in Gahanna, Ohio.

Building trust and long-term relationships with her patients is one of the reasons that Alicia is such a sought-after aesthetic injector in the Columbus area. Her patients travel from as far away as California because they know that Alicia’s expertise, positive attitude, and amazing results are well worth the trip!

Outside of work, Alicia enjoys being active in pilates, traveling with friends, and spending time with her husband and three daughters!

Katie Speaks

Katie co-founded BSA in 2017 alongside Kim, Dr. McCartney, and Dr. Mulumba. She has over 15 years of medical experience, and managed urgent care facilities prior to discovering her love for skincare. Katie is a results-driven skin health expert and is passionate about helping her clients age optimally & gracefully.

At home, Katie loves spending time with her Husband Mark, daughter Vera Rose, and dogs Petunia & Taco Tuesday! On the weekends, you can find Katie enjoying great food with family & friends (the spicier the better!) and a perfectly paired glass of wine! 🍷

Delaney Poor

Delaney is one of our amazing skin experts here at BSA, and loves all things skin AND sun! ☀️

Whether it’s the beach, paddle boarding, camping, or golfing, Delaney loves to get outside and live life to the fullest.

It’s also safe to say that Delaney is sunscreen OBSESSED, and knows that protecting your skin is the key to being able to safely enjoy all her favorite outdoor activities.
